Situational analysis: towards strategic planning in distance education at the Technological Institute of San Luis Potosí

The research's purpose was to perform a situational analysis to determine the degree of application of the Distance Education Model and the Operation Guidelines written by National Technological of Mexico in the Distance Education Unit of the Technological Institute of San Luis Potosí. The methodology was designed in two phases, in the preliminary phase the planning of the methodology was realized, while in the diagnostic evaluation phase the strategy and instruments were designed, as well as the instruments application, processing of the information and lastly the final report. Three instruments and a checklist were designed, the answers to the items were "Yes" or "No", to determine concretely whether it is a strength, weakness, threat or opportunity. The results identified the elements and actors in which the model is being applied in the right way and those that present an opportunity area. The results will serve as a guide to define objectives, strategies, goals and performance indicators for the Distance Education Unit.
