Abstract

The growing increase in the number of students with disabilities in university classrooms shows the need to improve certain aspects of the education system, with teachers being the focus. The main purpose of the study is to assess the degree of knowledge that university teachers have about how to use technological tools to provide support to students with disabilities.; and to identify academic and demographic variables that significantly explain the development of digital teaching competence in the university context. The methodology of this study consists of cross-sectional research with a descriptive and predictive approach carried out on a total of 2072 university teachers from different autonomous communities, being evaluated through an instrument consisting of 56 items. The results of the research mainly highlight the low level of training of university teachers in digital competence as support for students with some type of disability, as well as confirming that age and gender are not factors that have an impact on the training of teachers, as opposed to their experience and the ownership of the educational center.
