Abstract

This paper reports on the perceptions of pre-service teachers of English as a foreign language regarding the use of the digital tool Padlet in collaborative activities and the development of writing skills in this language in their future in-service practice.

Two groups of participants got involved in the activities, the first one entailed primary school pre-service teachers and the second one secondary school pre-service teachers. They used Padlet in two academic tasks and completed a questionnaire on its usefulness and application in their future professional practice at the end of both.

The results seem to point out that the future secondary school teachers considered Padlet as a more useful tool for their learning and the development writing skills in English in their educational stage than future primary school teachers in theirs. In addition, both groups highlighted that Padlet could be employed as a resource to manage and follow-up academic tasks, to assess students' learning and to make students more aware of their writing processes.
