Abstract

Students in hospital classrooms have special characteristics, as they are temporarily or chronically ill children. For this reason, it is essential to attend to their physical and psychological state. ICT can be a very useful tool to work with them, both educationally and emotionally. The general objective of this research is to discover the perception of teachers, students and their families about the use of ICT in the hospital classroom, as well as to make a comparison with the ordinary classroom and the home. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was applied, specifically an ethnographic-narrative approach, with a case study. A total of 11 students from the hospital classroom, 4 parents of hospitalized young people and two teachers participated. The results obtained after data analysis show the satisfaction of the three groups with the use of ICT, especially in the hospital classroom. The advantages are the promotion of active learning and innovative methodologies, as well as the increase in student motivation; although on some occasions it can be distracting. The daily use of the computer, the Interactive Digital Whiteboard and the Smartphone to carry out academic and recreational tasks stands out.
