This article presents the results obtained in the learning by twenty-eight high school students to use an open educational resource that treats the construction of ions and atoms in order: build models of atoms; identify a neutral species; determine the value of the mass number and atomic number of a species. The students showed a high degree of satisfaction with the use of the resource as well as also better academic performance.
