Academic Social Networks (ASN) configure virtual environments in which the educational community interacts, communicates and shares ideas and information. The objective of this work is to evaluate the impact of an academic social network (Ingeniemos.net), designed ad hoc to promote the acquisition of knowledge among university students of systems engineering in 4 universities in the city of Manizales (Colombia). Regarding the methodology, a quantitative approach was followed, with a non-experimental design with a cross-section and a correlational scope. For the analysis of the results, a measurement instrument was designed and validated and applied to a sample of 280 students. A correlational analysis of the variables was performed, and the proposed model was validated through goodness-of-fit indicators. The results show compliance with the hypothesis that the use of an ASN generates an increase in learning and knowledge through social interaction and the exchange of information. The main implication of this work is the verification of the goodness of the theoretical basis and the design chosen for this open-source RSA through the evaluation of the results.
