Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, is not under consideration in other publications, nor has it been previously rejected by the Editorial team of Edutec, Electronic Journal of Educational Technology.
  • The submitted file uses the official journal template, is in .docx format, and follows the formatting instructions, including the use of the defined styles.
  • The text is single-spaced; 12 point font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • Wherever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which appear in About the journal.

  • The length of the paper, including abstract and references, should not exceed 6500 words.

Author Guidelines

Original contributions in Spanish or English are accepted in the following formats:

  • Reports on research or outreach projects
  • Descriptions of evaluated and evidenced innovation experiences, with potential for transfer to other contexts or settings
  • Essays or systematic theoretical reviews

Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words in length, including the abstract and references.

  • IMPORTANT: The identification of the author/authors (full name, institution where they work, contact email address) should not be included in the article document, this data will only be complemented in the web submission form.
  • A maximum number of 4 authors per contribution is allowed.
  • ORCID: Edutec incorporates the Orcid identifier to published works, so authors are asked to indicate this identifier at the time of registration on the platform or when making a new submission. As with the rest of the identifying data, they should only be included in the web form, not in the document of the article.
  • If an author has previously published in the Journal, he/she must wait at least one year before being able to publish again.
  • An author may not submit two articles to the journal for review at the same time.

By submitting the paper for review, if it is accepted for publication, the authors assign the rights of publication and exploitation to Edutec, Revista Electrónica de Tecnología educativa, under the Cretive Commons By 4.0 licence or equivalent. To do so, they must complete and sign the «Letter to the editor» document, which will be sent with the submission.

Use of inclusive language

Authors are encouraged to use inclusive and non-sexist language throughout their manuscripts, avoiding expressions that may exclude or render any gender invisible. This practice reflects the journal’s commitment to equity and ethical standards in scientific communication.

Formal structure of articles.
Papers should be presented using the article template, following the format provided: Calibri Light font, body 12, single line spacing, fully justified, without tabulators and preferably in text format "docx".

Each original must have the following structure:

  • Title of the article, in Spanish and English.
  • Brief summary, in Spanish and English, with a maximum length between 150-200 words describing the objectives, methodology and main results and contributions.
  • Descriptors. A list of descriptors or keywords, with their respective versions in English and Spanish, between 4-5 keywords.
  • The body of the text should conform as much as possible to the usual structure of the research work: introduction, description of the procedure or methodology, results achieved, discussion of the results.
  • References. AThe bibliographical references contained in the article should be included at the end of the document, in accordance with the APA 7th edition (http://www.apastyle.org/).
    • No more than 40 references should be included and it is recommended that at least 30% should be from the last 5 years.
  • Other formal specifications:
    • The tables and graphs must be integrated into the text and incorporate a legend or subtitle that numbers the figure or table and briefly describes its content.
    • Images must be of good quality, must not be pixelated or blurred, and must also incorporate a legend or subtitle that numbers it.
